How it works
The map combines the scheduled timetables with the real position of the vehicles that transmit it. Here is how to read it and where the data comes from.
How to read a trip
Tap a dot and the trip opens. At the top is the status: how long ago the last position arrived and the deviation from the timetable. Then the list of stops with the scheduled time for each: the ones already passed are dimmed, the next one is highlighted with the updated arrival time.

The deviation uses three colours and always the text as well: +3 min late, on time, -2 min early. A vehicle waiting at the terminus before departure is marked as such. If the vehicle is far from its planned route, an “off route” notice appears. At the bottom of the panel are the number plate, when available, and the trip number.
Only transmitting vehicles are on the map
Every dot on the map is a real position, received a few seconds or a few minutes earlier. No position is ever derived from the timetable: if a vehicle does not transmit, it does not appear.
That is why some trips in service cannot be seen. It is not a fault of the map: the vehicle is not connected to the regional service or has stopped transmitting. When you open the line or the stop, the trip is still listed, marked as running to timetable but without GPS and, if available, with the last time it was seen.
Search, favourites and stops
Search accepts the line number however you type it: 384A, 384 a or 384 A find the same line. Stops can be searched by street name too. Favourite lines are saved on your device and stay there. From every stop you can open the board with the next departures.
If a vehicle runs a trip that was not in today's calendar, the map shows it anyway and flags it as off calendar.
Where the data comes from
Timetables, stops and routes come from Regione Calabria open data, in GTFS format, updated daily. The regional service also relays the positions that operators transmit to it; for some lines the position comes directly from the operator's on-board system, which sometimes also publishes speed and passengers on board.
The route of each trip is drawn along the real roads, not as a straight line between stops, and the delay is measured along the road too. The details of the sources are on The project page.
Frequently asked questions
Is Passa il bus free?
Yes. The website, the map and the app are free, with no sign-up, no advertising and no profiling cookies.
Which buses appear on the map?
Calabria's public buses, urban and extra-urban, in every province: 26 operators and 715 lines. Only vehicles that transmit their position appear.
Why doesn't my bus appear?
Because at that moment it is not transmitting its position to the regional service or from its on-board system. The trip is still listed when you open the line or the stop, with its scheduled time.
Is the delay reliable?
It is calculated from the vehicle's real position against the timetable, along the road. It is an indication, not a guarantee: for an important connection, check with the operator.
Where do the timetables come from?
From Regione Calabria open data in GTFS format, the same format transport apps use worldwide. The official timetables remain those published by the operators.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The map works in your phone or computer browser. If you prefer, there is an iPhone app; the Android version is coming.
